A short historic of The
Mining Basin Motru
The geological researches undertaked in period 1956-1960 and in next
years localized a minable reserve of lignite of approximate 3 milliard
tons, in 3 big basins: The basin Jiului Rovinari, the basin Motrului and
the basin Jilt. The year 1960 marked the beginning of works of investment
in Valea Motrului. In first stage were open in this coalfield of mines of
underground: Horasti, Leurda and Plostina with a capacity of approximate
3 millions of tons on year, then their bred through the working entrance
of mine Lupoaia, Rosiuta and Motru-vest and subsequent they were open the
careers Lupoaia and Rosiuta.
In the year 1965,
at mine Horasti, it was operated the first complex mecanized by stope
impored from the ex-U.R.S.S.
After 1970 it been projected, otherwise, a lot of existence carriers
in mining basins of Oltenia: Rosia de Jiu (1973 – the montage of the first
excavator of type SRs 2000), Pesteana South (1977), Pesteana North (1980),
Tismana II (1980), Rovinari East (1980), Rosiuţa (1984), Husnicioara (Mehedinti
– 1985), Oltet and Panga (1986), Pinoasa (1987), Berbesti West (1984),
Urdari (1985).
It's developed new townlike centers in the mining zones. It apperead
the cities Motru, Rovinari, Matasari formated from the population who is
camed from the villages from surroundings or from other
counties of country to work in mining.
In sign description and qualification of capacity of work were set up Scholar
Mining Groups – the first of this kind setting up in city Motru from 1967.
Otherwise, in the new industrial centers were raised houses, cinemas, houses
of culture, work clubs. Motru has became in short time the 2nd city as
size of county Gorj.
Starting from 1991 the Regie of Lignite it was organized on three
levels hierarchical: Regie – Brachs –Mining Exploatations and working
units. In the direct
subordonation of regie,
on zone it was organized 5 mining branchs in Oltenia: Rovinari, Motru,
Jilt in county Gorj, Berbesti in Valcea, E.M. Mehedinti in Mehedinti, from
this is added The Mining Branch Ploiesti.
